Hi, Does anyone have any information on how and what to use to turn the underneath deck floor of a second floor deck into the roof of a below the deck patio on the ground level. [?][?][?][:o)] My friend told me that there were kits available to install some sort of vinyl siding like material in between the deck floor joists that would act as a porch roof to the patio below the deck. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cheri

Cheri,
Last week I was at Lowe's. In an obscure corner, near the vinyl gutter systems and UV panels for roofing, was a vinyl type corrugated material that was made to put on the ceiling of a porch.  The only thing you would have to check out is whether the roof  on a porch may be on 24 in. centers for the rafters, and the floor joists for your deck are probably on 16 in. centers.

Maybe if you put in (what I call deadwood or scabs ) extra 2 X ? to match your floor joist at the right nailing/screw on location , you could use something like that. Or maybe it comes in different widths. I didn't pay that close attention to it, but thought it was pretty neat.

The material was in different colors and lengths. It rather reminded me of an old style metal roofing, but made to be fastened to the underneath side of a porch ceiling. Good luck!
